The one act play this year is called Murder Box. I interviewed Megan Hopkins on the play and her experience with it. Megan has been working with one act since she moved here which would be 6 years now. This year's play is a murder mystery which includes some humor and also a dark side to it as well. The play takes place at the end of the 1940's in an old theatre building which is about to be torn down. As the theatre's acting troupe is packing up the props, costumes and set pieces, an old magician's trunk is wheeled onstage. Suddenly, members of the company are turning up dead. Margaret, the director's assistant, is the only witness to these crimes, and no one will believe her. This year there are a total of 16 cast members and 3 crew. Out of those cast members 8 of them are seniors, 1 junior, 2 Sophomores, and 2 Freshmen. These seniors include Alana Howard, Sara Jessen, Aaron Castonguay, Caden Gortmaker, Gabi Naber, Elise Propst, Taylor Wetz, and Aubrey DeHaai. Juniors include Adam Turner and Eric Ames. Sophomores include Alexis Johnson, Saylr Moncur, and Dylan Schnathorst. Freshmen include Braden Naber, Dixon Knox and Madeline Nye. Meghan says the practice at least 5 times a week and sometimes have longer practices on the weekends. And to prepare for performances it really is all thrown together in the end. the biggest struggle for them is their early morning practices. Her favorite part about one act is the competition at performances. And if anyone is interested or want to learn more about one act Megan said they are always in need of actors/actresses, makeup, designing, and any behind stage help. Their public performance is Friday the 21st at 7 and regions is Wednesday in Huron.
