Snow Queen 2021

On November 27th Miller High School hosted their annual Snow Queen event. This event consists of first graders from Miller Elementary along with freshman and seniors from Miller High School. The first graders are called “snowflakes”. They dress up in their favorite dresses just like the high schoolers. The snowflakes sing a song while the judges decide on scores for the high school contestants. The High School Vocal Jazz also sang the songs “Santa Baby” and “Santa Clause is Coming to Town.” The High School Jazz Band performed their three pieces; “Deck the Halls,” “Joy to the World,” and “Carol of the Bells.” The snow queen candidates involved in both these groups also helped them perform. We also had a special guest singer, Serenity Johnson. There were twelve freshman who competed in junior snow queen. These girls consisted of Aleah Schlecter, Arielle Miner, Abby Boomsma, Emma Fritzsche, Morgan Kolda, Madeline Nye, Cora Peterson, Jami Propst, Olivia Resel, Dana Wallace, Sheridyn Sivertsen, and Sydnee Blake. Arielle Miner received Miss Congeniality along with second runner-up. Madeline Nye received first runner-up and Aleah Schlecter won Queen. There were also 11 seniors who competed in the senior snow queen. The seniors who competed consisted of Emily Gibson, Payton Kilker, Taya Pawlowski, Sara Jessen, Taylor Wetz, Elise Propst, Alana Howard, Gabi Naber, Brielee Conkey, Aubrey Dehaii and Shantel Single. Emily Gibson received Miss Congeniality. Payton Kilker received second runner-up and Brielee Conkey received first runner-up. Aubrey Dehaii won Queen. Aubrey also won the Junior Snow Queen when she was a freshman. Aubrey and Aleah will go on to compete in the state competition in Aberdeen. The senior Escorts were Caden Gortmaker and Andrew Knox. The Junior Escorts were Pierce Baumburger, Kellan Hurd, and Dixon Knox. The escorts helped undress Frosty who turned out to be Jon Bruggemann.
